Hello InterEGR 170 Instructors:
We’re looking forward to having your 170 sections here in the Makerspace this fall! I wanted to check in regarding a few things to make sure we have the space ready to go for you that first day:
To help students who are unfamiliar with the Makerspace find your class, I recommend sharing this link with them: https://making.engr.wisc.edu/glance/location/, which includes some very helpful photos and directions.
Things to Note:
- Include information regarding ongoing construction, staffing model, project support, permits, and storage policies
- Labs will be meeting predominantly in room 140 on the 1st floor of Wendt Commons;
- The Makerspace (2nd floor of Wendt Commons) will only be accessible during our operating hours (frequently updated here);
- The Kohler Vis Lab on the 1st floor can be reserved for design reviews or class meetings online by emailing us Send Email
- Please let us know if you have a specific layout in mind for your lab (rows of tables/benches or groupings; focal point of space; etc.) and any tech needs:
- Screens – We have the following options available:
- Large rolling monitors that can connect to your computer via an HDMI cable or Apple TV
- Kohler Vis Lab – Wall of T1V touchscreens; four large wall-mounted monitors that can broadcast from the main touchscreen or present screens independently of each other.
- Microphone & Speaker – Available on request!
- Anything else – whiteboards, prototyping cart, etc.
- Screens – We have the following options available:
- Students are able to check out or purchase tools & equipment from the Makerspace during open hours.
- If you’d like your students to be able to purchase materials at the Makerspace using your InterEgr 170 account, please add your class roster to this spreadsheet. (Note: you’ll need the following fields – First Name, Last Name, email, instructor and section number.)
- You can track your class’ Makerspace purchases by emailing maker-accounts@engr.wisc.edu and requesting a view-only link. Email us to make edits as well.
- Students will need to tell Makerspace student staff the name of their course and section number to ensure they are authorized to charge to the account.
