Makerspace Technical Student Staff
Our Makerspace staff members:
[-] Are outgoing and ready to help others become better designers and fabricators. The staff at the Makerspace is a service-oriented community of makers with a wide variety of skills and backgrounds.
[-] Have experience designing with electronics, micro-controllers, and virtual or augmented reality, but any making experience with any of the tools/equipment at the Makerspace is a plus.
[-] Are able to provide a welcoming environment in a service-oriented position, helping users with fabrication and design. Staff must also be willing to learn! We train on machines and for equipment maintenance, and provide other opportunities for potential creative projects!

TEAM Lab student staff
Our TEAM Lab staff:
[-] Have a welcoming, service-oriented attitude to help make the community inviting for all users
[-] Enjoy working and in a hands-on environment and learning from experts and peers
[-] Love working with students and want to help others use equipment like lathes, mills, hand tools and power tools
[-] (Optionally) Have prior experience in fabrication – but all new staff members complete in-depth training!We are looking for students to work during the fall and spring semesters with summer work available, ideally with a commitment of at least three semesters (many staff stay all 4 years!) Applicants must be a UW-Madison or Madison College student enrolled in the current semester. Women, underrepresented students, and freshman are especially encouraged to apply.

The Grainger Engineering Design Innovation Lab hires graduate students each year to help oversee the Makerspace and other shops within the College of Engineering. If you have experience with hands-on learning and shops (e.g. 3D printing, welding, tools, etc.), please contact us. We may also be able to combine this work with your research interests towards a thesis.
