Who: All students, faculty, staff and alumni from UW-Madison. No experience needed.
How: Sign up to participate, fill out the 2024 UW Makeathon Registration form
What: Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll build Toddler Mobility Trainers – customized, small wheelchairs designed to give young children the joy of independent movement. These affordable and easy-to-build trainers are perfect for indoor use. Discover the difference mobility can make!
When: Friday, September 27th with a kick-off lunch at noon.
Where: Grainger Engineering Design Innovation Lab @ Wendt Commons (directions here)
Why: Help kids in need, learn how to use tools in the Makerspace (CNC routers, 3D printers, hand-tools) and have fun socializing with disciplines from across campus.

Can I participate in the event if I’m not a UW Madison student, faculty or staff member?
- Our space is a resource for current UW Madison faculty/staff, so only they may use the equipment. Volunteers for this event may help with providing feedback, among other event assistance!
Will there be prizes?
- Yes, Milwaukee Tool has kindly donated many awesome tools that will be raffled at the event!
I’m a parent of a child who’d like one of these TOM chairs – when should we arrive?
- You’re welcome to arrive any time during the event! Please plan to come around 4-5 for sure so you can pick up your chair.
