Join us for a unique making experience in July at the UW Makerspace. At this hands-on design sprint, teams will ideate and prototype mobile kiosks to charge phones and other devices using solar energy. The kiosks will benefit students of the Great Lakes Community Conservation Corps in Racine, Wisconsin, by allowing them to charge their devices while participating in the organization’s career training programs.
Why: It is often challenging for under-represented and low-income communities to find access to clean and affordable energy sources. This is your chance to make a change and give back to society.
What: Design and build solar powered kiosks for such communities to charge their mobile phones and electronics. See pics below for examples.
When: July 22 – 24, 2021
Where: UW-Madison Makerspace (215 N Randall Ave)
Who: Incoming and current UW students, as well as UW alumni who graduated in May 2021
